I know that this is far from a complete list of upcoming campaign kick-offs, town halls, and other miscellaneous events that are coming up, but as I find them I will post more.
Representative Chip Shields (North/Northeast Portland) is gearing up for the 228 and 2009 sessions with a series of town hall meetings.
The first one will focus on creating a living-wage jobs agenda for N/NE Portland. The Town Hall will be Wednesday, January 9 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs (OAME) 4134 N. Vancouver Ave in Portland.
Special guests will include Dan Gardner, Oregon Labor Commissioner; Connie Ashbrook, Executive Director of Oregon Tradeswomen Inc.; and Roy Jay, President of the African-American Chamber of Commerce.
The next town hall that Shields currently has scheduled will focus on health care. This one will be at the Urban League Multi- Cultural Senior Center, 5325 NE MLK Blvd from 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
The other town hall currently scheduled will focus on education (Pre-K to Higher Ed). It will be held at the Portland Community College-Cascade Campus Student Service Cafeteria (building faces Killingsworth and has the rounded front)on Saturday March 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Sean Cruz, who is running for the state Senate, District 23 (currently held by Avel Gordly, who is not running for reelection), is having his official campaign kick-off next week. Here are the details from his website:
